Healthcare is a complex entity with multiple stakeholders, decision-makers and versatile processes. RemoteA invites different stakeholders to SmartECG Ecosystem to help develop and introduce a first-class decision-making tool for GPs.
As a patient living under a medical condition is stressful. For your peace of mind you expect to be taken seriously, diagnosed quickly and referred without delays to treatment when necessary. You value cutting-edge expertise by experienced healthcare professionals as well as simple pathways in an already energy-consuming situation.
Knowing all this, the Patient Advocacy Groups constantly monitor the waiting times and the length of waiting lists, trying to advocate for improved ways of heart patients. In many countries, the maximum time to be referred to secondary care is 90 days. Many times when best practices are adopted, that timeline can be much shorter. But often that long timeline is exceeded.
Before piloting the service in the autumn 2018 with our partners and customers in Finland, Sweden and United Kingdom, the SmartECG tool will be medically validated.
Treating patients in the best possible way is the number one priority for you as a GP / medical professional.
Maybe you have no access to an ECG monitoring device at your clinic or the access is limited, or the visiting time is so short that you may have to refer the patient to the secondary care and long waiting times.
Maybe you feel that the automatic report generated by your ECG monitoring device does not support you enough to help you make a diagnosis. Perhaps you have not specialized in ECG interpretation…
Or you feel that the current process (where you can ask for a specialist’s consultation in your network) could be managed more effectively, and (instead of sending PDF reports back and forth) more time could be used to treating patients?
Your patients would probably appreciate proper and fast ECG monitoring.
And you as a GP would appreciate faster, cheaper and more flexible alternatives to diagnosing potential “grey zone” patients?

Specialists have so far been the bottleneck for ECG monitoring. In the coming decades, the ageing population will be a major challenge for the EU’s health sector and globally too.
The demand for healthcare will increase dramatically as a result of an ageing population and at the same time the proportion of the people in work will probably stagnate or in some cases decline. That will result in staff shortages in certain medical specialisations or geographic areas.
In 2012, about one third of all doctors in the EU were aged 55 or over. According to the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety, more than 60 thousand doctors (or 3.2 % of the workforce) are expected to be leaving the profession each year by 2020.
The scarce resources can be directed to real patient cases that need to be diagnosed and treated at the secondary care. For a specialist it means more time available to the most complicated cardiac patients.
As a Healthcare Director, your key goal is to provide excellent patient care within the complex healthcare ecosystem of multiple demands and actors. While the need for healthcare increases as population gets older, financial resources are not increasing at the same pace.
The public voice and politicians ask for faster pathways to treatment.
Financial reimbursement systems might contradict with the optimal use of resources and patient pathways.
The competitive environment is getting more challenging.
Yet, to stay ahead in the turbulence and to build sustainable healthcare units, more efficient patient and treatment processes need to be developed. Luckily, the tool case of digital processes, patient data systems, Artificial Intelligence and robotics is evolving rapidly.
SmartECG is a cost-efficient way of diagnosing large numbers of potential heart patients.
Our goal is to create automatic plug-and-play compatibility for 80% of ECG analysis equipment in primary care level and achieve full compatibility with most eHealth systems in targeted countries by 2020.
Device manufacturers will benefit from SmartECG by being able to support the healthcare organisations in the secondary care to treat the cardiac patients at the right time with the high-quality monitoring devices.
On the other hand, SmartECG service will help healthcare clinics in primary care use the ECG monitoring devices more effectively than before.
We will be happy to plan a win-win partnership with ECG monitoring device companies. Simply leave your contact information in the form below and we will be in touch.
